Deputy Mayor welcomes Springbok Women back home

Yesterday afternoon, the City of Cape Town’s Deputy Mayor, Alderman Eddie Andrews, welcomed the Springbok Women back home as some of the team members and the coaching staff arrived at the Cape Town International Airport after playing in the World Cup quarter-final against the Black Ferns in England.

‘I went to the airport to welcome the women back home, and to congratulate Bok Captain Nolusindiso Booi, and Bok coach Swys de Bruin, for what they have achieved at the World Cup. I want to thank all the women who participated at the World Cup and represented South Africa for their inspiring performance throughout the tournament, not only on the field, but also off the field. We are proud of you. It was a historic run for the Springboks who have reached the quarter-finals at the Women’s Rugby World Cup for the first time. I’m sure many of the young girls who have watched you play now also want to follow your example and dream about a future in a Springbok jersey. Welcome home, and welgedaan!’ said Alderman Eddie Andrews, the City’s Deputy Mayor.
